Audra's ART TIMEZ

ARTIST BIO:

Hello! My name is Audra Rissmeyer. I'm a senior in Mechanical Engineering at CU Boulder with minors in Computer Science and Art Practices. A lot of what got me interested in digital art was animation and web comics. I especially love animation in movies and television, like Studio Ghibli, Steven Universe, Avatar, and Full Metal Alchemist. I've only taken a few intro art classes so far. Most of the art I've done has used purely traditional media. I'm very fond of drawing, but over the last few years I've also enjoyed getting into more colorful media like acrylics and watercolors. I did use digital media in my ARTS 1020 class for my final project, which I really enjoyed.
Because of what inspired me to get into art, I enjoy narrative art and fantasy art. I like my art to set a scene or tell a story. One of my main sources of inspiration is the ocean, because I find it to be a fascinating place with endless potential for story telling. I think digital art is a great way to tell stories, and I've very excited to learn about animation in particular, as it was one of the mediums that got me interested in art in the first place.

Above and to the right are some of my previous art works. Above is the interactive digital project I made in ARTS 1020 using Unity, a game engine. I used illustrations I made in Krita for the back round and incorporated interactive 3D elements. It was my first digital art project and I had a lot of fun incorporating things I learned in my computer science classes into my art. Below are some examples from a few of my favorite artists: Yayoi Kusama, Vincent Van Gogh, and Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli).
