It took me a long time to come up with an idea for my Webventure that I thought I would enjoy and that was also feasible. The idea I ended up landing on was some kind of maze. Lately I've been drawing mazes all over my lecture notes in other classes. Designing a maze that would interesting without being overly complex ended up taking me a while. I created the maze digitally, so that it would be easy to edit. Then I started tracing out every single traversal path. I counted up every possible step to make sure I would end up creating a reasonable number of web pages. Then I added in a numbering scheme so that I could keep track of things.
With all of those paths mapped out, I started planning out the structure of the webventure. I decided to have a main template website that would be edited slightly for every step along the path.
I decided to add a narrative to go along with the maze. I decided to have it be a butterfly, because I had found a premade gif on wix during the hidden links lab. I also wanted to add in some monsters. I wanted there to be some sort of consequence to taking a wrong path, which would simplify the webventure structure and give me an opportunity to add in some gifs. I wanted to make the monsters as scary as possible, as a contrast to the friendly butterfly that we were guiding home. I also went with a blue and grey color scheme as an attempt to tie the whole project together. I decided on the blue color because that was the color of the butterfly that I chose.
