Animation Project

Artist Statement:

My day dream video project starts out as a chase scene and ends as a near death hallucination/inter dimensional trip. In the beginning, our protagonist is being chased by a group of corn cultists. She is quickly caught and stabbed to death with corn cobs. Then, the corn grows up around her and she is transported to a Halloween land where she turns into a pumpkin headed skeleton person. She then meets more pumpkin headed skeleton people. Then we meet our antagonist, a man with an ax wearing a top hat. He follows the pumpkin headed skeleton's of screen, and walk back into the shot holding a pumpkin. We end with him eating a delicious pumpkin pie.

I kept most of the video the same as my plan. It helped that I only had a vague idea before shooting my live action video, and then built my animation story board around the video I had.

I kept all the key points that I had in my story board, but there were some smaller details that ended up getting cut for time. Originally, the hat man had a pet bird that foreshadowed the day dream, but I didn't end up having time for that. I also wanted to try so hand drawn animation for some of the more complicated sequences, but that was also something I did not end up having time for.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the finished product. There are some small editing changes with the sound track, lighting and pacing that I would like to make in the future when I have the time for it. I also ended up slightly under the 3:30 minute bench mark, although I did have the full two minutes of animation.
